NCN Awards Ceremony

During its Annual Policy and Capacity-Building Summit, the Native CDFI Network (NCN) took a moment to bestow its Outstanding Leadership and organizational Excellence awards on two deserving recipients. Dave Tovey (Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation), Executive Director of Nixyáawii Community Financial Services and President of the Board of Directors of the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corporation (ATNI-EDC), received NCN’s 2023 Outstanding Leadership Award. Meanwhile, ATNI-EDC was recognized with NCN’s 2023 Award of Excellence, with ATNI-EDC Executive Director Stacy McQuade-Eger (Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes) accepting the award on the organization’s behalf.

Excellent conference packed with great ideas and networking for all

This was my first NCN Summit. I definitely will return next year and I will try to bring others from my CDFI as well. I found this very interesting and stimulating!

The well-roundedness of the agenda, topics, and speakers provided detailed information rather than the typical resume of services. The information from this year’s summit is practical, and useful and will allow practitioners to hit the ground running with vital information to be successful. Building on the momentum from FY2023, there was so much exciting information and opportunity for our industry. It is truly an exciting time for Indian Country.

The highlight of today was the Participation Lending session. I’m new to the CDFI world, but I’ve worked in banking for many years. Hearing how we could partner with other financial institutions and be creative to meet our loan needs was eye opening!

The networking opportunities were phenomenal and yet there was still the rapid learning sessions in the format. I like this format!
