The EPA has not provided evidence to support its Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF)-related claims of waste, fraud, or abuse as reported by The New York Times.

One year ago, on April 4, 2024, the Native CDFI Network (NCN) traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the public announcement of a historic opportunity for our communities. That moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in our collective efforts to bring clean energy and economic development to Indian Country.

As the only Native-focused recipient of the CCIA, NCN designed a program rooted in our long-standing commitment to impact, compliance, and responsible stewardship. Through this initiative, NCN was set to deploy critical funding to Native-serving lenders that would finance clean energy projects—such as renewable energy development, sustainable infrastructure, and energy efficiency upgrades—across Indian Country.

Despite recent challenges, NCN remains steadfast in our commitment to work collaboratively with the EPA and all stakeholders to meet our shared goals. This program is more than an initiative—it is a lifeline. It is essential to advancing economic opportunity, attracting private investment, and securing long-term energy independence for Native communities across the nation.

We will continue to advocate for the full implementation of this transformative investment and stay focused on the positive, lasting impact it will have for generations to come.
