Last week, in response to the Trump Administration’s release of its FY 2026 Discretionary Budget Request – which proposes to eliminate the NACA Program in FY 2026 and reveals its intent to withhold 86% of the NACA Program funding that Congress appropriated for FY 2025 – the Native CDFI Network (NCN) conducted a survey of the Native community development financial institutions (CDFIs) who currently receive CDFI Fund Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) Program Financial Assistance (FA) and/or Technical Assistance (TA) funding to gain deeper insights into the impacts these planned actions by the Administration will have on their organizations and the Native communities they serve.
Today, NCN shared with Congressional leaders and their staff a summary document featuring a representative sampling of the survey responses NCN received from Native CDFI leaders. To read the summary document, please click here.
On June 23, 2025, Tribal Business News published a feature article titled “Trump Administration Targets a Lending Lifeline for Indian Country”, which spotlighted the alarming implications of the Administration’s proposed actions and uplifted the voices of Native CDFI leaders responding to the potential cuts. The article reinforces the urgency of this moment and underscores the essential role Native CDFIs play in advancing economic opportunity and financial inclusion in some of the most underserved communities in the country. NCN encourages all Native CDFIs to share this document and article with their respective Congressional delegations in advance of the House Appropriations Committee’s mark-up of the FY 2026 Financial Services and General Government bill in early July. If you need assistance with locating the email addresses of the staff of your Congressional delegations, please email NCN Policy Consultant Ian Record at [email protected].
