Chrystel Cornelius, President and CEO of Oweesta Corporation, was recently recognized for her work to return wealth and financial independence to Native lands and people. A member of both the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, Chrystel Cornelius received the Heinz Award for the Economy for her work addressing centuries of disenfranchisement that have led to profound socioeconomic disparities for Native communities. Cornelius is one of seven recipients of the 27th Heinz Awards which annually recognize a small handful of outstanding individuals with a $250,000 unrestricted cash award.
