Northwest Area Foundation grantmaking supports organizations within the region of eight states and 76 Native nations that are advancing long-overdue change in deep connection with the land they inhabit and communities they serve—Native Americans, communities of color, immigrants, refugees, and people in rural areas. They’re on a journey to build social, racial, and economic justice—helping communities thrive on their own terms.
The new grant-making approach supports change-makers who maintain deep connections to the land they inhabit and the communities they serve. They’re building racial, economic, and social justice throughout the Foundation’s service region—Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and the 76 Native nations that share the same geography.
In the third quarter of 2022, grants to 29 nonprofits were approved, totaling more than $4.2 million. Click here to view the full list of grantees.
